Click on any of the images below and
another page will come up with a larger image. Right-click on that
image, and select "Save Picture As" to download the graphic to
your computer. Open the image in your graphics viewer program and print.
Next, cut out the black sections with an x-acto knife. Put the resulting
template on your pumpkin, and you can trace through the openings with a
felt pen to put the pumpkin carving pattern on your pumpkin.

Hallowe'en 2007 ... the Scary Season
comes early!
Back to politics for 2007! Last year I
had a hard time finding a good political figure to "jack" ... this year
I find I have too many choices. I'm working on some others, but of
course this year I had to start with Hillary Clinton. Love her or hate
her, she makes an awesome jack-o-lantern!

Halloween 2006
These three designs are dedicated to my
favorite radio show,
Coast to Coast
AM. Whether they are talking about conspiracies, UFOs, psychic
phenomena, bigfoot, crop circles or science and politics, they keep
millions of folks entertained and informed in the wee hours of the
morning. I thought they would be perfect subjects for jack-o-lanterns!
If you haven't heard the show, I highly recommend you give them a
listen! I hope that Coast Fans will recognize the resemblance to the
show's hosts, George Noory, Art Bell, and Ian Punnett.

I carved the George Noory pattern on an
artificial pumpkin - in my pumpkin I added a UFO and a space alien
peeking over George's shoulder. You can add your own embellishments to
any of these designs to make them your own creation. I'd love to see
your carvings ... email me a picture of your carvings from one of my
patterns and I will put it up on the web! Have a look at the carving on
this page ... great job Roland!

It's hard to think of
anything scarier as we approach Hallowe'en, isn't it?

Tip: You can purchase handy
Jack-O-Lantern carving tools at Michael's or Wal*Mart. The special tool
kits feature serrated blades that are safer than knives or razor
blades. I recommend that you carve any long thin pieces first - put
your hand through the pumpkin's main opening to steady the carving wall.

Tip: If you slip when carving the mouth
of your pumpkin, get some miniature marshmallows and stick them into the
mouth with toothpicks to make some funny Jack-O-Lantern teeth.

A thought about trick or treating ...
In our troubled times, many parents are leery about allowing their
children to trick or treat. While their worst fears very rarely come to
pass, especially if children are well supervised, some may feel it just
isn't worth the risk to allow their children to go door to door taking
candy from strangers.
Why not get together with a bunch of
other parents, everyone chips in, the kids wear costumes and have a
party, either at McDonalds, or at the biggest house with the biggest
basement. If it is at home, hide some treats and toys around the house
and yard, like Easter, but with a Halloween theme instead? This idea
also works well for older kids who sometimes feel left out at Halloween
time.

Halloween Safety Tip: Purchase on of those "belly
button" lights or light-up necklaces at a Dollar Store, and use
that to light your Jack-O-Lantern.

Halloween Safety Tip: There are
stick-on masks and makeup kits available at Wal*Mart and Dollar Stores
this year that are much safer than plastic masks.

Tip: You can buy carvable fake pumpkins
at Micheal's Craft Store or at JoAnns Crafts ... they last forever. They are flammable
though so see the safety tip above!

Halloween Safety Tip: Decorative
contact lenses are one way to add a special sparkle to your costume, but
make sure you get the proper lenses from an eye care professional ... check
out the FDA warning.

Tip: Get some glass
pieces from a craft store. Carve small holes in your pumpkin, just a
little smaller than the glass pieces. You can then glue the pieces into
the pumpkin for an amazing Jack-O-Lantern with "stained glass"
look.

Did you know ...
"Apocolocynposis" is the
fear of the world turning into a pumpkin.

Tip: Use your own
creativity - you can take pieces from one pattern (like the bats in the
Halloween Witch pattern above), and place them in other patterns, to create
your own custom Jack-O-Lantern.

Tip: Make sure to be
careful when carving sharp points like fangs. If they break off, you can
stick them back in by putting a toothpick in one side, and sticking it
in with the other.
