It
is very simple to create this handy hand-crafted pouch that can be used to hold
all kinds of treasures, from medicines, keys, change, emergency information,
charms, crystals and more. The one shown here holds a digital tape recorder and
note-pad. I have one for my cellular phone, too. The Treasure Keeper can be made
for any size, is worn like a necklace and can be hidden under clothing of the
same colour.
Heat up a hot glue gun. Cut two
pieces of felt to size, the back one (blue outline) slightly longer than the
front (black line) . Measure a length of ribbon or rat-tail for the necklace
section. place the rat-tail or ribbon slightly inside the felt section. You
might also place pony beads on the rat-tail before gluing. When you are ready to
proceed, place hot glue (green line) around the "closed rim" of the keeper.
Remember, it is extremely hot! Don't press down on it with your hands, because
the glue can squirt out. I use a hot-glue pad and a book to hold them down until
they set (which isn't long - about 5 minutes).
Finally, you can use the hot glue
to place a Velcro tab on the inside of the over-flap (orange dot). Once the
keeper is complete, you can decorate it with ribbon, buttons, glitter, crystals,
beads, appliqués - whatever your imagination can come up with.
