Every winter the Fallsview area
in Niagara Falls Ontario glitters with huge pictures made from ropes of coloured
light. "The
Festival of Lights" runs from late November through the month of
January. Most of the displays are lit from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm. They range in
height from smaller scattered pieces to huge panels over 20 feet high, and cost
thousands of dollars to build and maintain. Each display is sponsored by a local
community, company, or the Disney corporation, who maintain a large selection of
displays near Table Rock. 2003 marked the 20th anniversary of the Festival. On
December 31, a non-alcoholic family concert, "New Year's Eve - Niagara
Falls", is televised live across Canada with two fireworks displays. During
the Festival, the Annual Festival Night Parade passes through Niagara
Falls on ten different evenings.
