-
BroadVision
- The "other" choice for those needing a big-dollar buy to
blow the budget for the quarter (See also: Vignette)
-
Ektron
- Cold Fusion and ASP knowledge required, but lower prices than
most.
-
Content
Studio - Unify Code and Content Management for e-Business -
whatever that means. This is another Vignette initiative
designed to separate webmasters from their cash.
-
eGrail
- Nice web site, lays out the features in passably understandable
prose - but does not list a price.
-
InfoSquare
- Yikes. You'd think selling content-management tools someone would
have taken the time to do something with the ol' web site ... "Openshare
Knowledge Framework is a fully functional and extensible enterprise
portal environment" - whatever that means. Not cheap, starts at
10 grand.
-
JCorporate
- Java and OpenSource Based, but a confusing web site you need a
geek to decipher.
-
MediaBlox
- Actually has a fairly readable website, this one - though they are
more of an add-on to Vignette than a stand-alone solution. No prices
on the site.
-
PCI
Content Integration - Converts Quark stuff to XML. It's got one
of the more readable sites, but no prices listed.
-
Red
Dot Solutions - Yet another CMS starting at the low-low price of
$45K and up.
-
MediaSurface
- This one looks like it has some potential. I find the web site
largely readable, and actually spoke to one of their reps who was
open and interested in the customer point of view. I don't know what
the costs are.
-
NCompass
Resolution
- "Resolution enables enterprises to deploy dynamic,
content-rich Internet, intranet, and extranet sites. Using
Resolution Content Connector business users can create and manage
dynamic content for Microsoft® Commerce Server 2000 e-business
sites." - can someone translate from the Geek? Microsoft
recently bought them out, which may be a good sign for the industry.
Can you say "FrontPage with CMS"? I'd like that!
-
Vignette
- The grand-daddy of them all, the VC's current darling - largely
because they are one of the few companies posting a profit in this
sector. Just about all the press I have read about them condemns
Vignette as an expensive straight jacket into which you pour several
thousand dollars, your best techs and your content. I have heard
that implementation is between $175,000 and $300,000 at the low end.
$540,000 "average" You read right, Five hundred and
forty thousand dollars. Average.
-
Zwire - "Zwire! is
PowerOne Media’s complete, turnkey publishing solution to power your
website and generate online revenue. Zwire!’s powerful tools enable
newspapers to build and manage robust websites without significant
resources, technical expertise or change to internal process." ...
and other standard CMS marketing blah. Someone tell these folks
about the
Web
Economy BS Generator, so they can fire their copywriter.
